Beautiful bellflowers

Adam is always on the lookout for new plants to use in our gardens or incorporate into one of our living walls.Whilst walking along the coast path in Pembrokeshire this week he spotted this beautiful Campanula carpatica growing out of the side of a slate wall. This is definitely one to include in a future living wall...

Campanula carpatica: Unusually for a bellflower, this plant bears upward facing, single flowers. They are produced over several months in summer and can be white, blue or violet-purple. This is a rock garden species, needing free-draining soil and full sun or part shade. Plant into pockets of compost in a dry stone wall. A good bee and bumblebee plant, both for pollen and nectar.
